Brittany Yoast, 23, from West Virginia would never have imagined that she would hear the voice of her deceased grandfather on her wedding day. But to her surprise, that is exactly what happened.
When Brittany’s sister, Summer, married in 2015, her grandfather, affectionately nicknamed Pawpaw, had officiated the wedding. He was a reverend and someone she immensely loved and respected.
In fact, she had always dreamed that he would be the one to marry her off when the time came. Unfortunately, that dream was shattered when he died a year later.
When her wedding was set in August, she was disappointed that her grandfather could not be present to bless her. But Brittany’s sister had a surprise in store for her.
When Brittany and her groom bowed their heads for prayer during the wedding, a voice boomed through a speaker. Though she was initially confused as to who had switched on the speaker in the middle of her wedding prayer, Brittany immediately recognized the voice—it was her grandfather.
Apparently, Summer had clipped her grandfather’s audio from her own wedding, and played it as a unique wedding gift to her sister.
The voice went on to pray for the couple and pronounced them as husband and wife. And Brittany, inevitably, broke down in tears on hearing Pawpaw’s voice. It was literally a dream come true for her.
“It took me by complete surprise.
“It was amazing. It was a moment I’ll cherish forever,” Brittany told TODAY.
The guests were also shocked at the sudden turn of events and also shed a few tears as the tender moments unfolded before them. Even the wedding photographer, Sarah Irvin, could not hold back her tears.
“I was crying so hard I had to go back and look at the photos immediately to make sure they weren’t blurry from me moving so much.
“I have never seen anything like this. The whole crowd was silent except for the sniffles,” she told ABC News.
“It was so special for my whole family,” said Brittany. “There wasn’t a dry eye in the house.”
A special day made all the more wonderful by an amazing surprise.
