Andrea Ramirez, 10, from East Salinas, California, always dreamed about a trip to Disneyland. She had been saving money for her trip and managed to save $200. But just one week before her dream came true, her home was burglarized and the robbers took away all of her savings.

“I was so happy to go but when they robbed me I thought I wasn’t going to go anymore,” said Andrea, a 5th-grader.
“She saved her money all year, which is pretty significant for a 10-year-old,” Salinas Police Chief Adele Frese told InsideEdition.

“Our police officers said there’s no way not on my watch it was bad enough the burglary happened but we got to make this good for this little girl,” Frese told KSBW8.

This is when officers Tyler Provost, Julianne Mesiroff, and Fabian Aquino began asking other officers for donations to help Andrea.

The officers “opened their hearts and their wallets,” said Frese.

Their actions exceeded all expectations, and they even managed to raise $1,050. They called the family into the station under the guise that they were going to ask them to identify some property stolen from them.

When the officers gave Andrea the Mickey and Minnie Mouse cards and the collected money, the family couldn’t believe it at first.

“Her dad was so humble and so grateful; Andrea was absolutely stunned,” Frese said. “This is the type of thing that we go to policing for. To heal harms is kind of healing for us too.”
“When they did that, they gave me a bunch of money that I couldn’t believe it, it was amazing,” recalled Andrea. “I don’t know what to say but they’re super nice and they have a big heart to everybody that they help.”

These top cops have done a great service to this family, who’ll probably never forget their generous act. The cops probably felt great too, because, after all, being kind to others is just like being kind to oneself.

And it looks like Andrea fulfilled her dream trip, too!
