Witty 9-year-old got AGT judge totally confused—offered to play another song, stuns everyone

With loads of personality, and then some, this boy genius extraordinaire is a showman to the core. He certainly made an incredible impression on the judges at “AGT” with his masterful piano skills, revealing that his genius transcends mere book smarts.

At 9 years of age, he could speak three languages and had read over 500 books. Adrian Romoff, 13, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, began tickling the ivories when he was just 4. He has already held three piano recitals at Carnegie Hall and was placed third in the American Protege International Music Talent competition.

His mom, Olga, is his biggest fan as well as his mentor. “People say he is a genius, I look at my son and say ‘you always have to be a good person,’” she said.

That 9-year-old took to the stage in “AGT” and quite literally “rocked out” to an incredibly difficult piece, “Flight of the Bumblebee,” on his keyboard, synthesized to sound like an electric guitar. That threw Judge Howard Stern for a loop at first—it was hard to tell what was piano and what was background music. “I am utterly and thoroughly confused,” he said.

Adrian took it in stride. “I would love to play another song,” he offered.

This time, he offered up an elegant encore: Chopin’s “Grande Valse Brillante” in E-flat major, and, with fingers flying, he stunned the judges, with Howie exclaiming: “You are the future. You are absolutely brilliant, the way you play, you live that music, I see it coming through your body.”

Heidi Klum was in awe, and she asked him, “Are you exhausted now? I’m exhausted from this!” to which Adrian responded, “Well you’d be even more exhausted if you were doing it.”

Last year, Adrian won the Lifetime Channel’s “Child Genius” award, earning a $100,000 college fund, and he enrolled in summer school at Harvard. He gained admittance into the Juilliard School of Music as a classical pianist in 2014. He is sure to be a success at whatever he chooses to do in life.
